JENNIFER MOORE EASIER SAID THAN DONE What's happening? What's on your mind? I'm sleeping when the baby sleeps. I'm getting my power naps in. In one dream, the fish drowns as its tank is drained of water. In another, I'm swimming with whales along a forested coastline. A friend has lapsed back into a dead-end relationship. Someone responds in a thread: The nearest exit's probably behind you. Small birds make enormous sounds. I'm trying to tame my flyaways. I'm working on my new fall look. My students say It's a mood. Here is my handle, here is my spout. My son's a little teapot. I am whatever room I am in. Counting to one hundred teaches patience, and suspense. Nobody knows what will happen. Starlings flock to the crabapple. A fox in the road, then, amazingly, an armadillo. Every bird but one flew off. We're still waiting for the tomatoes to grow. |
